AT&T
Ripped off and displeased

AT&T has been my wireless provider for quite sometime now. Today, I was going to pay my wireless bill until I noticed it was higher than what I usually pay. I went to look at the bill and there were several calls that I'm positive I didn't make. There were a few that had a number to, in which I have no clue to who it may be. I will have to call it tomorrow to find out. The one phone call that did stand out though, however, was one that was made to my mom's work number. The bill stated that I had made a 33 minute call to her number.

My first reaction was, "I've never talked to my mom for 30 minutes straight." I went ahead and asked her though if she happened to remember it. She keeps pretty good records of things and it just so happens she was off that day.

I then thought, "Well, if I called it accidentally, the call would automatically disconnect right?" I kept that thought in mind and I called the customer service number to see what the situation was.

I consider myself a pretty patient person, and I definitely was. The automated thing said it would be approximately a 10 minute waiting time, and I was on for 27 minutes before someone picked up (Luckily there was something on television). I didn't mind too much about the waiting time. Upon getting to a CSR, he was a nice guy too, he explained to me that the calls were like a fingerprint and that on their end, there was really nothing he could do because it said the call was running for 33 minutes. He was very courteous and he gave me a number to call if I thought that some of the calls were fraudulent.

I then decided to call my mom's work number, just to see what it would do. I wanted to see if it was my error on account of I do have her number one one-touch dialing. I called it, and after 2 minutes and 8 seconds it disconnected.

I know for a fact there was no way it could have ran for 33 minutes straight. I called again to talk to someone, and another gentlemen assisted me. He wasn't as kind as the other guy, I'll just leave it at that. I told him the situation however and he said there was nothing that could be done.

There is no way my phone ran for 33 minutes to that number. So I get screwed over anyways. I don't understand this. I can prove I didn't make that call, but it doesn't help. What really got me was, the second guy said he could give me 33 minutes worth of credit (13 dollars and something, which, they are charging me 30 something dollars for going over 30 minutes... Go figure) for a one year contract. What kind of shmuck would take that deal?"You are screwing me over, but let me sign in a contract which I can't get out of, unless I pay close to 200 dollars, so I can get 13 dollars worth of credit... Because you are screwing me over...". And that's what it all boils down to. All in all, I'm very frustated with the entire ordeal. I'll be stuck with bad credit if I don't pay the bill, or I can spend the 30 dollars more for a call I couldn't have possibly made.
