We were moving 3 miles in Norfolk VA we contacted a few moving companies for quotes.in an e mail we recieved:

Hi Patrice,
We spoke earlier. Here is the information beased on our conversation: our hourly rate is $89/hr for 3 men and a truck.
We disassemble and reassamble everything for you, insurance is included, no minimum requirements.
No charge for stairs, mileage, extra stops or change of the date.
We can do your move anytime on 05/17, starting as early as 8am. Overnight storage is possible, we won't charge you for that.

We asked that they arrive around 7 am
they arrived at 9
after 6 and a half hours we arrived at our new place
they held our furniture in the truck and would not release it until we paid over 3100.00, they charged almost 1500 dollars for packing (which we did not ask for being only 3 miles away we asked them to concentrate only on the larger furniture... We call a friend who is a criminal attorney who called the Norfolk magistrates office and he explained what they were doing was illigal but we would have to go and file a compaint before they could send a detective over. Being it was too close to 5pm we didn't know what to do but pay them under duress becasue we were afraid to leave our furniture and they would drive away with it we. Called the drivers supervisor who repeatedly verbally abused us and mangled the story which no self respecing busness owner would do to a customer. They refused to take a check, we had to pay in cash we were under so much stress from moving and then this. What should have been no more then 1500 at the very most turned out to be 3100 with strange explainations as to why it went up so much. They said we would return our 100 dollar deposit which they refused to do and in front of another attorney friend threatened us over and over... The driver delibrately resused to allow our attorney to read any contract and he locked himself in the truck and only spoke through the cracked window. This is a serious frightening experience. Many things were damaged boxes were litterally thrown in our appartment we have many credible whitnesses to all of this. And the drive drove off with the contract refused to give us a reciept for the cash and any phone calls to the above numbers only resulted in verbal abuse and hang ups... I later found out so many others have also fallen victim. I called the DOT and found out their licences that they proudly display on their website have been revoked. If you have been a victim of these people please Please report any and all to the attorney generals office... I am going to post and post so no others will become victims... They are dangerous and threatening. So after three thousand dollars we still don't have our home moved and me my two friends and the lady from the condo management group all had to move the things from the truck while the driver slept locked in the cab!!!
