Expo Guide
Misleading form is designed to fool businesses into signing for 3 years @ 980 per year while thinking they it's for a free listing in a business directory

Shops, Products, Services

Expo Guide invites businesses to 'update' their entry in an online database. According to their pdf form attached to the email, 'Updating is free'. The form is designed to fool people into thinking they're signing for a free listing in the Expo Guide business directory. You are instructed to fill in all parts of the form fully and sign (plus print your company stamp). There is however, a block of small print that that has been deliberately designed to be hard to read which says that by signing, you are agreeing to (approx) 980 per year contract for a minimum of 3 years.

The next thing that happens is that a couple of months later, people receive letters in the mail demanding payment in full of the 3 years (3 x 980). This can escalate into several letters, emails, faxes and phone calls - depending on whether or not the victim makes contact with them.

At some point, if you don't pay, they then pretend to hand you over to 'debt collectors'.in reality, these people are just part of the same scamming organisation and their aim is to bully the most vulnerable people into 'settling' for around 1,000.

GOOD NEWS: These people can do nothing to you. They have no legal powers or rights. Despite their threats, they have never taken anyone to court, anywhere nor will they. They make money out of people being scared enough or ground down enough to pay.
