16 year old credit card debt

I had been approached in mention of A - 16 yr-old charge card statement for my spouse (who I'm presently divided from) and was informed that I'm officially accountable for a statement to that we had no understanding of within the first place. They mentioned they had my ss # and requested that i read it for them (ignorantly) I did so. They mentioned that i should make payment plans to fulfill the debt. I genuinely believe that the sculpture of restrictions has exhausted with this problem and advised them of my understanding they insisted the debt be compensated.
