I have been dealing with this problem for over 7 months! It all started with a promotional offer that was sent to my home. Since I didn't want to take advantage of the cell-phone offer, I decided to let a business associate/friend use it since we entered into a business relationship. I contacted MCI Worldcom Wireless before receiving the phone to inquire about having the information switched to the responsible party's information. After they assured me that it would be taken of, (even after I received the phone) I allowed them to send it to me and trusted that the matter would be corrected easily. I was WRONG!!!

At first, I was told to call in the person's credit information (ssn, name, address, etc). When I did this, I was told this was fraud and the actual party had to call in. Another rep told me they'd mail me an assumption agreement which the person had to sign and send back in. The rep even asked me to supply this person's ssn# over the phone. I was able to do this. So, the other party completed and signed the agreement that stated they are and have been responsible for the service since the beginning. I mailed it in myself. MCI WORLDCOM WIRELESS LOST IT and never bothered trying to remedy the situation despite my numerous attempts.

Meanwhile, the were converting to a new billing system, Procell and I had never seen a bill. I would call and check to see when I would ever get a bill. Nobody ever had any answers to any question I asked. All I ever heard was "I don't know." It seems as if noone cared at all. A rep even advised me to just mail a payment in (keep in mind that I have never received a bill and have no account number).

Months have gone by and when I did my usual call to check the account status. I found out the account was 3 months in arrears. A rep told me that 3 bills were mailed to me and the account was in collections. I haven't received any such bills and requested duplicates 3-4 months ago and still haven't received anything. Nothing!

I have made around 25 calls to this company in the past 7 months and that count is growing. I have sent over 30 e-mails that have gone completely ignored. Every request ignored. I even requested to have the phone deactivated and pay the $200 penalty on 10-19-01. As of 11-30-01, the phone is still on and noone that works at MCI Worldcom Wireless knows when the service would be deactivated.

Even though my business associate/"friend" accrued these charges, I started making payments to pay the astronomical balance that they created in 6 months. Neither of the 2 payments have posted on the account and noone knows when this will happen or when MCI Worldcom Wireless will present a request for payment from my bank.

I have even sought help from a legal aide society and have been spinning my wheels for 7 months and going nowhere. And, they are threatening to send this bill to an outside agency. Can MCI Worldcom Wireless get away with this because they are a multi-billion dollar company? How am I supposed to make payments if they will not accept them and nobody know what's going on. I am angry and frustrated and I will never do his for anyone ever again. I wish that I can get to the bottom of this. But, without cooperation from the company, I am rendered powerless. It's not supposed to be this way. Customers should be treated better.
