Ripoff, awful service, lazy workers

We hired Transport Moving Group for an in-town move and paid more than double of what was estimated. Awful service!

After what had seemed to be a reputable company, we were very disappointed with this company's service. We told them we have a big 4 bedroom house filled with furniture and household items.

On the day of the move, only two workers showed up with a 24' truck! As they walked through the house, the driver and his helper started pointing out items that were going to be extra. The TVs were extra because they had to wrap them with boxes, blankets and tape. The lamps and mirrors were extra because they had to be boxed. The piano was extra. The fact that our new home is two-story was extra. They heavily boxed and taped items that were not necessary to box and tape, and of course, that added to our bill. This was only a 10 mile in-town move! Very bad misrepresentation.

They took their sweet time to move our stuff and added more hours to their service, which of course, increased our bill. They smoked cigarettes while sitting on our furniture; they played our piano; they constantly took breaks; the driver was often speaking on his cell phone.

Because they only brought a 24' truck, not all of our household items would fit in the truck. They agreed to come back with another truck the next day at 1:00 P.M. To pick up the rest of the items. We had to get permission from the new owners of our old house to leave our leftover items in the garage. We got their permission, but we agreed to have everything out by 5:00 P.M. We called the driver's cell phone at 1:05 P.M. With no answer. We called the company in Miami five times and they paged him but there was no answer. Finally, the driver called us at 2:30 P.M. Saying he was at a job in Lakeland (1 hours away)! Because they did not bring an additional truck, we had to do the rest of the moving ourselves, including our piano, which we had to arrange for a separate company to move; more money down the drain. Well, the Transport Moving Group guys
finally showed up at 8:00 P.M.!!! Seven hours late! When they finally showed up, they showed up with a couple of local guys off the street corner to help them unload. They were there until 11:00 P.M. If that wasn't enough, they asked for a tip!!! And we discovered later that a bottle of wine we had placed on the kitchen counter was missing.

On top of that some of our furniture got scratched and damaged. We requested and received a claims form. To claim an item for damage compensation, they required an unreasonable amount of paperwork accompanying 3 written estimates per damage! It would cost more to get the estimates that to fix the furniture!

This was not a pleasant experience. We hired a moving company to make it easy on ourselves and it did the very opposite costing us a lot of money.

Next time, hire a local reputable moving company. Make sure they go through your house way before the move! Make sure they list all of the extras ahead of time!!
