Direct Mail Center TOTAL SCAM! TRIED to rip me off, I got my money back, eventually

I was HAD! I received an offer for a free ring in a mailing from a reputable club that I belong to. I STUPIDLY ordered this ring with my debit card. It came in mid-October, with an offer to get more jewelry sent to me. I did NOT want that extra JUNK!!! I sent back the cancellation card immediately.in early December, I received a postcard telling me: "We have processed your request to cancel future shipments in your (club name) program, noted below. Unfortunately, your cancel notice was not received in time to stop the next scheduled shipment." The 'program' that was listed did NOT say Holstead Jewelers, it said "Amethyst Earrings", the same name that was on my bank account.

I called my bank and got the phone # on that entry, 800-671-2958. I called there and found out that the 'shipment' in progress, the earrings, had actually started 10 * DAYS after I had received the ring, AND BEFORE the cancellation card had time to get to them. I was LIVID! I was told to refuse delivery, or send it back unopened, then they would refund all of my money. Except the overdraft charges, of course. I sent it back, they only refunded the price of the earrings. I raised enough MESS that I got them to give me back the shipping charge too.

I got numerous 'assurances' from them that I would NOT be receiving anything else. LIES!!! On that stupid postcard that involved the earrings even said, "Be assured that you will not be receiving any additional shipments." LIES, LIES!!! What happened in January? YOU'RE RIGHT!!! Another charge to my account, for a #* (&_& pendant. I TOTALLY FLIPPED on those "people". They told me that this order was started in NOVEMBER!!! Before I got their stupid, LYING, postcard, EVERYTHING!!! I IMMEDIATELY called them, screaming!!! I got the cost of the 'pendant' refunded, that day by telling them that I was going to report it to the fraud dept. At my bank! I had to call AGAIN, THEY wanted me to pay for the SHIPPING for something they were NOT SENDING me! I got that refunded TOO!

The first thing I did (after a cigarette, and a stiff drink), I called the club that had included their card in one of their mailings, telling them that they needed to CHECK THESE PEOPLE out. I told them about the fraud that they tried to pull on me. Please do the same, let your club know! THEY NEED TO KNOW who is relying on the good relationship that we have with them to find dupe's to pull this CRAP on!!!
