Fraud

I was contacted by a representative that interviewed me for a business promotional site and was told there was a one-time fee of $589 and then $9.99 for each month of publication. I received a booklet and some plane tickets that did not appear to be legitimate.
My credit card was charged $607 and then a month later a guy called to confirm my address to send out the publicated book. Never any mention of ANY extra charge. I got my credit card statement and had another $689 charged! I contacted my credit card company would not reverse the charge. I was told to fax a cancellation of my membership to them so no further charges would be added.
I contacted customer service of Stanford with negative results. Faxed the copy and heard nothing. Emailed their company and heard nothing. Finally talked to "Carla" from customer service who was rude and refused to cancel the "order" for a book that would not be send out for another month and said I authorized the 2nd charge but refused to show proof that I did.
I have received nothing for over $1200 dollars and have been told that I cannot cancel my membership or anything else. The $9.95 monthly fee has been "waived" as if I should be thankful for that.
