Friendfinder.com COMPLETE UTTER SCAM and RIPOFF

I just found this website today, and I want to report that I was scammed by friendfinder.com in December. I had basically "chalked" this one up to experience, but if my post can dissuade even 1 potential customer from friendfinder.com, then it's worth it.

In August I signed up for their "gold" service for one-year for something like $119.95. I don't remember exactly the price. I enjoyed the service until October when suddenly one evening while surfing their site I got a weird error message on my screen. I tried to re-login, and when I did, my account had been mysteriously downgraded to a "free" regular account, which doesn't allow you to send emails.

I pursued their customer service "department" for a reinstatement of my account, and after about a week of failed attempts, I requested a refund. This went on into December: I sent numerous emails, made many phone calls, and even sent a few faxes. I couldn't immediately dispute the charge with my credit card company because the charge had been made over 2 months ago and had already been paid out to friendfinder.

Eventually, I did get through to a human being, and was told I could get a pro-rated refund for about $104 and change. That was fine with me. So, they told me to send a fax with my credit card information so they could issue a refund. I did so, and followed up by phone and fax and was assured it would be taken care of. But nothing happened. I called in January and the guy I spoke to in December forwarded me to a surly fellow in their billing "department" who said it was "being processed."

In any case, by about February - after having chased them for 4 months - I gave up. Ridiculous!

I urge all people against using friendfinder.com. There are many other reputable dating agencies out there to patronize. "friendfinder.com" is not one of them.
