Sent daughter letter to honor her, took the money and didn't produce book or plaque

My daughter received a letter and an email that she had been nominated for what a Middle School age child would view as a great honor! Her older sister had been nominated a few years earlier and this was a great accomplishment! We followed all the rules, had the biography approved and sent the picture along with the check to pay for the picture being published with the bio, a plaque and a book. When we visited the site to check the status of the order the sight was one page with a message stating that the company was no longer in business and they were working to fullfill their final orders. I sent an email to them to inquire when I should expect a product or refund and of course never received a response. I would like to mention that my older daughter has the book and the plaque from a few years earlier, which only adds to my anger about the whole thing!
