Default Research
Serdar Bankaci "Be aware of the fine prints of ripping you off"!

Shops, Products, Services

I am a real estate agent and I found out about this company at a seminar. At first I thought it would be a great idea to sign up for a service where I would be getting an updated fresh list of "filed Lis pendens", so I didn't have to search manually every day.

So I signed an agreement with "Default Research" and paid for 3 months in advance and after sending a couple of letters, I received phone calls from homeowners saying there was a mistake and that they were up to date with their mortgage payments. So I realized they were selling innacurate information and therefore I decided not to use their services anymore.

What I forgot to check was their "rip off" agreement as I didn't see that was an automatic renewal as to cancel this after 3 months I had to send the request of cancellation in writing prior to the 3 months expiration. So they charged automaticaly my credit card for 3 more months! I sent them an email saying I wanted to cancel and they confirmed cancellation and after going back and forth, they said there was no refunds and that they would cancel my service, but they wouldn't give me a refund. I said I would deal directly with my credit card company and bellow is the answer I got from "Default Research" customer service:

That's certainly an option for you, however it should be noted that we will pursue any costs associated with collected the balance through our collection agency. We would hope that being in the real estate business would allow you the mental capacity to read & understand an agreement, however threatening defamation and a non-fraudulent chargeback is certainly the low road. Rest assured that any defamation and/or false statement made by you will be perused to the fullest extent of the low. And as set forth in the agreement collection, legal and court costs will be added to your balance and reported to the credit bureaus. So if you would like to increase your costs feel free. Although you may not weight an agreement as binding, I am sure you will soon find out that you are wrong.
