Timeshare Resale Rip-Off

March 15, I was contacted by Timeshare Mega Media with an explanation that they had a pre-approved, *guaranteed* buyer for my timeshare in NC. I was told that I would need to pay $1499 (down from $1999 since my husband was a veteran) for closing costs of various sorts, but that that money would be refunded to me after the sale. Also, I would receive a credit on my credit card within 30 days for money that was given to a different company to market my timeshare.

Desperate to sell my timeshare, I agreed, signed the contract and emailed it back the next day. I figured that the extra outlay of $1499 would be a strain, but had been told a certified check would be sent to me, via courier, by April 15th.

Today is May 5. I have not received the credit from the previous company, nor have I received any form of payment for my timeshare. Timeshare Mega Media has not attempted to contact me since March 16, and they have not responded to any of my requests for information or a status update on my "sale".

My timeshare is listed on their web page - apparently rather than a guaranteed sale, what I purchased was a very expensive ad. I still have my timeshare and now also have even more debt.

Timeshare Mega Media is not above lying to potential clients in these tough times; a "guarantee" with them is only a guarantee to throw your money away. They will happily take your money, but forget trying to get an answer or service from them.
