Sent defective toy, contacting them nearly impossible

Placed order in February. Toy arrived defective (broken inside box) - not due to mailing. Sent back to Hobbytron. Could not contact them, as they do not answer their phones. Their chat line always says "offline - leave message." After repeated attempts, I finally got through on two occasions and left detailed messages for them to call me. Never heard from them.

Also, the company will not return your money if the box is opened. How do you know it's defective if you don't open the box?

Filed complaint with the Better Business Bureau (which I found out later gives them an "F" rating). The company's response was that they had not received any calls in reference to the order (of course not, they don't answer most of the time) and the two times they did, I did leave messages. The last response was from the Better Business Bureau stating the company had given me an in-store credit. I did file a rebuttal with the BBB.

The in-store credit is all well and good except how do you use it? They certainly did not give me any further information. I think you would need some kind of authorization which I don't have. I did e-mail them regarding that and have not heard anything. Quite frankly, I don't think I will even try to use it, as I will have to pay for shipping and handling again and can't be assured that the next thing will be any better.

I printed out their policy, and it is outrageous. They even say they'll charge you $50 if you attempt to do a credit card chargeback which I am going to do next. I order on-line all the time, and have never had an experience like this.

I simply cannot believe a company like that is allowed to remain in business. I will never do business with them again, and also am telling everyone I know about this.
I should have looked at the complaints against them (hobbytron.com/complaints). I will certainly check out companies in the future. That was my mistake.
