Sent me a defective pair of shoes and refuse to refund or accept return of item

Ordered a pair of MBT shoes from mbtmall.com. They came in a damaged box, with none of the ususal printed enclosures, i.E.information on the shoes, DVD, information on how to return items if need be. Also did not come in the ususal MBT box. Was charged $90.00... A good deal, but is was an older model of shoes. Put the shoes on and went to tie them up and one of the rivets popped off. Now I have a pair of shoes that I cannot tie up. Went back to the website and after repeated E-Mails, finally got a response [this is 1 week into the alloted 2 wk. Return time]. Was told to e-mail photos of the shoes. This was done. Waited a couple more days for a response, was then told that I had obviously worn the shoes. I guess putting them on and tying them up is considered wear and tear! Because of this and the fact that "it was such a good deal" they would not take them back, nor would I get a refund.
