Fake "Award Claim Notification"

Received a letter with a check inside claiming that after many attempts to contact me this was the final notice that I had won $8000 dollars. The check was made out to me in the amount of $998.78 and I needed to contact a Grace Wright to receive further instructions as to how to collect the rest of the "winnings". A Brian Mayers was the fake "PROMOTION MANAGER".

I reverse looked up the phone number which is a cell phone number.

There is an actual address in Ontario Canada coinciding with the one on the letter but I didn't bother to go ant further than that.

There were 12 company logos on the bottom of the letter including Visa, Walmart, Sears and others. It smelled fishy from the start. When a company gives away money they don't hide in a dark alley way when giving it to the winner. It's televised or the prize patrol jumps out from behind your bushes and hands out a giant check. We all know that's the real way to get "winnings" HaHa!

So I'm going to sadly shred this check, yet thank the Lord it was fairly obvious something wasn't on the up and up. You can never be too careful.
