I am responding to all of the consumer complaintss I have been reading up until today.

I worked for Colorado Prime for over a year. I was in their telemarketing dept. I also was in charge of Re-orders and Re-acts. Re-acts are customers who have left the service and we try to woo them back. I must say even being an employee I was easily swayed into believing how great a company they were and that they were a far better quality then the supermarkets etc. Etc. Etc.

We were trained to bully people on the phone overtalk them and act like we were their best friends. I also worked closely with the sales dept and often had to field all of the complaints concerning discounts and % off and free merchandise that was never honored. I made the mistake of feeling bad for a customer who was ill and could not make the pymts on her freezer and after hearing her cry for 20 minutes on the phone how she could return it if she was unhappy, I went to the sales rep Gene and told him the problem and how she wanted to return the freezer and I was screamed at for addressing her issues, needless to say she was stuck with the $1000 freezer and the 21%intrest.

Another example of the misleading practices is the price. They use a multiplier. They will never tell you a price per pound on meats. A pound of bacon is between $9-$10 per pound. Hamburger meat $20 per pound. They use phrases like "If you buy a TV or Grill or BBQ you will get a 40-50% discount on food. Tell me why a 6 month supply of food after being discounted 50% is still $2400 for a family of four who eats in 4x per week? This does not include the overpriced appliance pymt that comes in a seperate bill that they conviently forget to tell you about. I am so glad I quit.

I was sick seeing what they forced us to do for $6.50-$7.00 an hour. I guess I was lucky I was paid $8.00 a hour to be a bully. I am embarrassed and I apologize to all the people I set up appointments for. I didn't realize at the time I was setting them up for heartache. Please beware of wolves in sheeps clothing.
