Around 9pm in August I was solicited by a representitive from Magazine Publishers Service. I had taken pain medication for my ruematoid arthritis and do not recall anything other than them telling me I had won a gas card and free magazines. I did not even think about it until strange magazines started to arrive along with bank notices stating that Magazine Publishers Service was trying to take money out of my empty account.in several other states, attepts to use my debit card number was reported by my bank. When they couldnt get access to any money they started harassing phone calls berating me for not paying my bill. I explained my situation and they got ruder still telling me I could not cancel and they would sue me if I did not send them money. They have since attempted to file suit for a past due amount of 263$ with a full balance of over 900$. Is a contract verbally binding when one party was contacted while having taken legally prescribed/mind altering medication? Especially late at night while I'm minding my own business and breaking no laws myself? Oh, and the gas card never arrived.
