Ripoff Credit Card Fraud Unauthorized Charges Even After a Complaint was Filed Only way to get my money back was to personally physically hand deliver the merchandise?

In early september, my daughter received an email from Sweepstakes Clearinghouse. She requested that information be mailed to her regarding their promotions: specifically pertaining to a stereo system they advertized. The company requested credit card information in order to process this request "for information only?". My daughter, being young and somewhat niave, complied with thier request using my check card.

Several days later she received the information as requested and put it aside to discuss it with me. Before anything was mailed back to them, I was charged $110.72 by them, and 2 days later recieved a 5 piece luggage set via UPS. The carrier is not required to obtain a signature for residential deliveries.

Upon receiving this "package" I contacted Sweepstakes Clearinghouse using the phone number in the shipping label because they did not supply a complete contact number to my bank when the charge was submitted.

I was told by both the customer service rep. As well as the supervisor, David, that they ABSOLUTELY WOULD NOT credit my account, nor would they issue a pick up ticket for the merchandise. I was told that if I wanted a refund I would have to ship the package back, at my expence, and would then be credited only for the merchandise @ $72.00. Shipping & handling were not refundable. Total cost to me would then be well over $60.00... For nothing.

I requested that they send me copies of the signed order... And supplied them with contact information to do so, and have yet to see any varifiable, physical, proof that anything was ever actually ordered from them.

As if that wasn't bad enough, there is more. On Friday 09/19/03 my check card was charged, again for $162.06. Again I contacted Sweepstakes Clearinghouse. I was told that the new charges could not and would not be refunded. And that the only way I would get my money back was to personally physically hand deliver the merchandise to "David". I have absolutely no idea what they have shipped to me this time.

I am currently in contact with both my bank and my attorney reguarding this matter, but am still unsure of what the final outcome will be.
