Rip Off

As I have read on usacomplaints.com, I too was subjected to the unfair and downright underhanded scheming of NSS Magazines.

I signed up for a free, eight-issue trial of Men's Health and Rolling Stone magazines, on July 19. I received my first issues of these magazines in mid-September.

According to the agreement I read and confirmed, at anytime during the eight-week period, I could cancel one or both magazines, no questions asked. At the end of the trial, I would receive a statement, and if I wished to cancel and pay nothing, I was instructed to simply return the payment card with CANCEL written on it.

Well, I never received any statement, and even though my eight-issue trials are not ended yet, my Visa debit card was charged a one-year subscription rate for both Men's Health and Rolling Stone, on 10/9/01, one week ago today. Barely four weeks into my trial period (incidentally, I've only received three issues of each magazine), and I was already charged.

Like many other victims, I was never informed of an automatic account charge. Moreover, what makes me sure I've been ripped off is that my account was charged BEFORE my trial was ended, and the promise that I would have the cancel option was not upheld, because I never had a choice.

Consequently, I have filed a consumer complaints here and contacted my bank and will dispute that charge. Calls to the toll-free number on my bank statement resulted in no option to speak to a live person, only to order more magazines, check the status of my account, or cancel future issues, leaving me with this bogus charge on my bank account, no address at which to contact them, and an automated looped phone message.

The Better Business Bureau and Federal Trade Commission will both be receiving reports from me momentarily about NSS Magazines. They are a deceptive, scheming, scamming company of con artists who do not keep promises made, and should be put out of business ASAP, and all their victims should be refunded at once.
