Fred Jackson Sent me a check for 1995.00 and told me to deposit it into my bank account and I did then they told me to western union te money to the and they would send me the remaining amount of money

I recieved a letter in the mail that I have won a large sum of money and I need to pay the taxes on it first. I called the person (Fred Jackson) on the paper and he told me to deposit the check into my account and then call him back.
After callin him back he told me to western union the money to a Jasone Price and call him back afterward. I deposited the check and never western union the money. I actually used some of it for myself. I call six days later and told them that the check was returned to my bank.
He tried to tell me that it was because I had not paid the taxes. That my bank called their bank to find out if the taxes were paid and they weren't and they returned the check. I called my bank and asked them what was going on. They explained to me that the check was not real. That they would never call another bank.
I called Fred back and he said no that was not true that only thing that I could do was pay the taxes and the rest of the money would be sent to me. I told him that everything that the bank had told me and he stuck to his story about the taxes. He said that I just needed to pay the taxes and this would be takin care of.
Now I feel like a donkey and a fool! I am now overdrawn on my account and don't have the 700.00 to put back into my account to make it right. Why am I so stupid and believe everything.
