Contract I cancelled and setup payments to end the account. Was turned over to Collections. Was making payments as agreed

I had signed a contract for Servicepro Lawn & Pest Control for stopping spiders from the house that I am renting from. I decided to cancel this contract and agreed to pay $20.00 each month as agreed from a Ft. Myers location. This contract was turned over to a Tampa office. The Servicepro Lawn & Pest Control never told the Tampa office about our verbal agreement. Each month I received a receipt showing my balance for the company. I paid as agreed. During the month of December I received a phone call telling me that I haven't sent a payment. I told the associate that I had an agreement with her company. She confirmed it from the computer data. I had made a $40.00 payment for November and December combined. During the 6th of January I received a notice that my account was placed in the Collection firm from Dallas Texas. I made the phone call and learned that there was two balances. The one was past due for 30 days. But from the receipt there was only one balance. I didn't know that this company could pull such a heartless trick. I hope that this will alert anyone who needs to check out the Pest Control services.
