Magazine Service Center
Ripoff the business that doesnt give a dam

Shops, Products, Services

It all started when Citibank sent out "free" magazine subscription as award for being a good customer. I admit, I was sucked to it, thus sent in for a 6-months "Saveur" magazine thinking that it was direct from the magazine publisher. 6 months passed, around June I saw a charge in my credit card of $29.95. I called the Citicorp, and was advised that I call the toll-free number shown on the line charge. The toll free number is 877-781-3425 (Ct.). This line was and still is an automated voice prompt system that no matter what you do, there was no live person to talk to. One of the prompt is "do you want to cancel your subscription?" which I did. However, the charge was never credited and the magazine kept coming. I was too busy and had let this matter unattended.

In April my credit card statement showed a $29.95 charge again from the same toll free #877-782-3425. I immediatly called both Citibank to contest the charge and at the same time call the 877-782-3425 which again are voice prompt. I went through the same cycle as I did in but this time I really do not want the magazine and want my money back. I also called the publisher hoping that they could help.in talking to a lady, Ann, she said that their records did have my name as a subscriber (address and all) and that there was no record of cancellation to subscription. I asked her that if they have this information, they must know what "third party-subs or outfit" that sent in my name as a subcriber and could they as a publisher refund me the money if I cancelled directly with them.
I was told flat out "No" and that I have to go back to the "scamp-broker" who should in-turn sent them the cancellation order. WHAT A SCAMP!
I believe that all three parties, beginning with Citibank, the Saveur Publisher and of course this Magazine Service Center, the biggest Cheat of them all, are in COLLUSION to cheat trusting consummers.

Additionally, how could the Better Business Bureau list this Scumbug Magazine Service Center aka Synapse Group, Inc, etc., as its member? Where does the buck stop???
