Heartland Payroll Systems has operated in South Carolina without proper licensing for over 10 years

After we heard about the data breach at Heartland back in January, our people did some investigating.By the way, interestingly enough, Heartland announced the biggest breach in history during the inauguration of President Obama. Do you think they were trying to get away with something?
Anyway, one big thing we found out is that Heartland Payment Systems has operated for over 10 years in South Carolina without proper business licenses. Being that they have employees and not sub contractor sales people, they must have business licenses and pay an average of 2% of gross sales to each city or county they do business in. That is the law.
Heartland Payment Systems has been doing business here in South Carolina for many, many years and we can not find where they ever paid dollar one to any municipality or county. Shame on you Heartland Payment Systems.
Companies like Heartland Payment Systems who don't pay their fair share of business license fees cheat our state out of millions of dollars each. South Carolina businesses should not use any of these companies. When a vendor comes in to your business to sell a product or service, ask them to see their business license or peddlers permit. If they don't have one, report them to the proper county or city business license bureau.
