Collecting Funds before any work being done

I called this company through a referral from a friend for modification they wanted to collect funds before any work was done as far as contacting my mortgage company. I contacted my friend and he does not seem to be satisfied with them either now because he has signed up with them and nothing has been done with his mortgage company either and they have already taken his money too. He said he is going to call the Attorney Generals office on them. I see that there have been 2 prior complaints against them. I did not give my bank information for fear that they would take funds out before money was in my account and I read that this is not suppose to happen until work has been done. Also I notice on the last complaint the persons charge from them was to be $2000.00 they told me mine was 2,500.00. This is questionable too why is it that the fee is not the same for all people. Many people are loosing their homes is this all legal? Here we think were getting help and that doesn't seem to be the case. Someone needs to put a stop to this before other people get taken for a ride.
