Sprint
Sprint changed my Unlimited Mobile broadband without telling me, then charged me over $1100

My son is in his room crying, because he can't go online and play his favorite games. We live in Phoenix where it's 111 degrees outside. Out for the summer, he's enjoyed online gaming offered by the cartoon network called Fusion Fall, and another called Free Realms. He used his own money to buy unlimited access to those sites, and I have no problem because he can't really go out in this heat and play, and this is a good option. When he needs a break he just browses over to youtube and will watch an episode of Pokemon. This sounds like a perfectly ordinary child's life right?

All that turned upside down this week when I received a bill for $1191.78, an amount derived from an unauthorized change to my mobile broadband plan. For nearly 2 years I paid the normal $59.99 unlimited mobile broadband. I also have Sprint's $99 simply everything plan for my phone. Back in June I made a payment at the local Sprint store and their employee told me I'd been paying $10 too much every month. I asked why and he said because I have the $99 everything plan, I'm entitled to a $10 discount on my broadband. Then he told me he couldn't fix that, and I would have to call customer service, which I did.

Upon calling customer service the agent took down my information, placed me on hold, came back and said that she fixed it so that I would begin receiving the $10 discount right away and asked if there was anything else she could help with. The entire conversation amounted to about 3 minutes. Fast forward to now.in the two month billing cycle I went over my limit on an unlimited plan by $500 one month, and $600 in another. I say again, I went OVER my limit on an UNLIMITED plan.

When I talking to Sprint about this, they informed me that my plan was changed when the $10 discount was applied, and that they no longer have an unlimited plan, that all plans are now 5gigabyte or less, and that they could only credit me a maximum of $500 towards the bill. That conversation went for 45 minutes, and I was told to go to the Sprint store to see if they could do anything further for me. At the Sprint store, they couldn't offer me any help, and said they were wrong for not telling me my plan would change. The store also said I was grandfathered in with my unlimited plan, and that once that changed, there was no going back. I don't think that this is at all a reasonable or fair business practice. I also don't think that our internet usage is anything other than normal as well.

The lesson here is do not trust Sprint. I've been with then for almost 9 years or more now, but now I'm thru! Stay away!
