"A Senior Citizen Scamming another Senior Citizen? March to July 09...$245.00!

A word to the un-wise... I initially received a letter from Maria Duval stating she was the same age as me, and telling of her many accomplishments. She promised many things, all leading to a better and richer life beginning in days or weeks! I sent $20.00 and received the "Rings of Re" (which was an adjustable band that caused blisters on my finger...) I received many more letters all offering a different type of ritual or talisman, etc. Each requesting a "discounted fee" of $45.00. Often times two or three letters within a week.
Since March of 09 to July of 09, I have sent her (or Destiny Research Center) $245.00 and included three personal letters, stating that nothing so far has seemed to work at all and if this last effort failed her promised results, I would be sending her another letter requesting a full refund of funds paid to date as she guaranteed in her letters. I have noted no "personal acknowledgements of my letters" and note that all of the letters received appear to be "Form Letters" edited to be personalized to me, and of course with the standard remittance form to send payment.
What Was I Thinking...

Has anyone else had similar experience or been as gullable as I have been.
