Cold called me on Memorial Day!

Just after my husband died last July I received a cold call from a man representing Miller-Plante septic tank formula. He told me that the current product I had was insufficient and he urged me to buy a "new, improved" product to be added to my current one.

He told me that I would receive 2 containers for the price of one. When delivered, I received just one container and the charge on my card was over $400!

Dealing with a death in the family tends to make one take less care of other minutiae. I realized I had been overcharged, but blamed myself for not paying attention.

Today - May 23 - Memorial Day - the phone rang. The ID on my phone suggested it was a William. The man introduced himself as "Bob" and muttered something about my septic tank formula. I was so outraged that anyone would try to do business over the phone on Memorial Day, when I was remembering my husband and his service to this country, I told him he should take the day off, "like everyone else!"

I have more than enough of this "formula" to last me five years, plus I am on the NY Do Not Call Registry. Where these people find my number, I do not know. I do know, however, that I will not buy anything from them again.

They originated in Clifton Park, NJ and moved south about nine years ago. Probably on the proceeds they have garnered from suckers like myself.

I realize that, in the words of P.T. Barnum, "There's a sucker born every minute" and I guess I'm one of them, until they have the sheer gall to impose on my privacy on a day which should be hallowed to everyone who has lost a dear one, and one who has served.

Miller-Plante are the lowest of the low.
