Uses deceptive sales practices to sign people to equipment leases that are ripoffs

Rob Washington of Cocard gave me a sales pitch for combined credit card processing and internet marketing. His credit card processing rates were good, and the claims he made for the internet marketing were also attractive.

He never mentioned the equipment lease, and foolishly I failed to read the entire contract. Later I got paperwork from a lease company saying I had to pay $85 a month, including tax and insurance, for two years, and then I wouldn't even own the equipment. That's around $2000 for equipment which I learned I could buy at Staples for around $300.

I also found out that the internet marketing consisted of signing me up for a third party program which would cost $49 a month. If I signed up for it myself, for which Cocard is charging me $75 a month.

Rob Washington would not return phone calls or e-mails, so I complained to Cocord's head office in Nashville. They managed to get him to contact me again, and make a couple promises for small consessions, including getting me a yellowpages.com ad, but again he quit communicating with me.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which Rob Washington refused to respond to, and learned that his office has an "F" rating with the BBB for complaints similar to mine.
