Retaliation of former employee

I worked for All Star Awards for approximately 10 weeks in a purchasing/sales support capacity. Within those 10 weeks I was subjected to a training plan that included sarcasm, derision, bullying, and racism toward myself and other coworkers. Because of the highly stressful work conditions and after I was threatened to be forced to "clean toilets", I walked out.

I waited for my final paycheck. Because I had moved and left a forwarding address, my final pay did not arrive in a timely manner. I am still waiting on that final pay. After emailing the HR person at All Star Awards and Ad Specialties (who also happens to be the owner's wife), I was told the check was direct deposited (it was not), and I had to explain to this person that final checks are often mailed, not electronically deposited.

(During my employment, I was also told that I could choose which health plan, mine or my husband's, that I wanted as primary. This is also not true and I began to suspect that All Star's HR person had no clue what they were doing.)

I was finally told via email that due to the "inappropriate" way I left the company that All Star Awards and Ad Specialties would do nothing to expedite my pay and would only cancel and cut another check well after my employment ended (30 days). I explained to them that because Missouri is a "work-at-will" state, my abrupt departure is well within state guidelines, and I feel that I am enduring retaliation tactics by this company.

I would also like to state that during my employment with this company, I was privy to racist jokes, racist ideologies, and professed death wishes against personal family members. I was so appalled by this unprofessional behavior that my disgust and resentment often carried over into my home life.

I would not only recommend staying away from this company as a potential employer, but as a place to do business. Many African Americans are customers of this company, and I doubt they would continue to do business with All Star Awards if they knew what went on behind the scenes.
