Deceptive and unfair business practices

The original company salesman came by door to door. He advised my wife and I that he was sure we had roof damage as a result of Hurricane Wilma, Several years prior. He offered to do a free roof inspection and was granted permission. When he finished he confirmed that we needed a new roof due to numerous loose roof tiles. He further stated he could get us a new foof for no cost as he would eat the deductable since the company was making so much money from the insurance company. I adved if that could be done do it but do not bother me until you either get the approval or denial. I signed a contract. There were several meetings between the salesman and the insurance company over the next year.

One day a new salesman arrived at the door informing me the original guy was no longer with the company. He advises me he is taking over and that he will handle everything and he does not see a problem. After a few weeks the salesman again shows up with his wife/girlfriend. They ask if there was any other damage from the hurricane I would loke added to the claim. I showed them damage that ha occurred that I never informed the insurance company since it was below or deductable. They told me it was going to be added to the claim. The damage was to the top floor ceilings that cracked from what I believe was the movement of the 2nd story.

Again some time passed and I was told the Insurance company wanted to go to arbritration. What the salesman called an umpire meeting. I was not present at the meeting at hte request of the salesman and his wife. I was informed and later it was verified by documents that I was awarded a roof and damages for the interior.

The roof was started and so did the troubles. First the workers broke the windshield of my truck and denied it. Lucky for me I have video cameras and it was caught on tape. Next my patio screens and gutters were damaged. These items took forever to get repaired and the gutters are horrible. The joints look like a 1st grader did them and the downspout in three different colors. The subs who came to do the install of the underlayment did not roll the paper as required. Again they said they did but I had proof they did not.

Next the title crew broke the intake and discharge pipe on my sprinkler pump. Skyhigh sent out a guy to fix it who had no idea what he was doing. I finally had to hire an irrigation man to make the repair and fight to be repaid. The same subs stacked tiles on the main roof and had them fall onto the garage rood causing damage. I called the salesman who in turned called the crew on my roof. The salesman was told there was no damage not knowing I had taken photos of the damaged area. They then failed to use form to secure the area of replaced tiles and had to return to make a correct repair after I again complained.

When the roof was completed I asked about the interior work and was blow off. Finally I was contacted and told there was no money to do the interior. After
several weeks I wrote a letter to the company and advised them of my position. I informed them I would hold back funds for the damage and interior since the insurance company had paid for the interior work. I received a nasty phone message informing me if I did not give them the entire amount they would place a lien on my house.

I then contacted skyhighs in house counsel who I was lead to believe was a lawyer. I later found out he is not a member of the Florida Bar and can only act in the capacity of giving advice. He initally was helpful in trying to settle the matter. I agreed to release Skyhigh in regards to the interior and in turn I would receive a release of lien from Skyhigh and the roof wind mitigation report. We met at my house and I was informed they forgot the mitigation report but would send it. We exchanged the other items. I was asked to drop my complint with the BBB. I explained I would after I received the report. I never did receive the report and Skyhigh through it in house counsel told the BBB they gave me a discount and therefore would not provide the report. I have since had an attorney send a letter to the company and after a week have received no response.

I do not recommend Skyhigh to anyone now. All my neighbors who are using them are have some type of trouble. All they care about is the money. I my case I feel as if there has been fraud committed on the insurance company and myself.
