I recently was approached at a local gas station, namely Valero, on Apache Trail in Apache Juction Az.By a man, quick talking, and as I was about to enter my gas card into the pump, he quickly grabbed it from me and offered to assist me in getting my gas. I got nervous and thought he was attempting to steal info from me. He entered my card twice and then once it got going, he started to look at my windshield and told me he could get me a free windshield at no cost at all with my ins com. As this was happening, my gas tank filled up to the max and I was not planning on filling it, I have limited income, so was going to add only $20 at that time..

He talked me into getting the windshield replaced and then I told him we had attempted to do bus with him before a month ago, but that they sent out a bum looking man with his music turned up very loud in our community and the guy looked like he just crawled out of bed. He was long haired, all tangled up and with dirty clothing. Looked scarry, so we chased him off. I told this fello at the station that we had an experience and wanted nothiong to do with them..

He convinced me that they got rid of that guy and that things would be different. I then told him that we were going to get free food at a local restaurant from another glass installer co and he showed me this "gas Coupon" that said we could get $300 in free gas and that the food offer was nothing at all. I said, what's the catch. He said none. Just free gas. He said at any gas station I chose..

I was reluctant, but agree and the it was set up for the next day that the windshield would be replaced and low and behold, it was the same installer as was sent before! Same ugly unwashed face, same long greasy hair and same dirty clothing. Although he did talk nicer, I was enraged, but he did go ahead and install the glass without incident. I first asked to see this so-called free gas card and he showed me and I asked what he knew about it and he said, nothing..

So I went on the computer and found out that the hitch is that we have to purchase $100 in gas first, then it has to be at the same type of gas station, (amoco, conoco, bp ect) always and these receipts have to be mailed into "CLAIM YOUR GAS" and post marked by the last day of eadh month, in order to get your return gas coupon by mail to use the next month, which may take more than 10 days. The gas receipts cannot be for more than one a day at any station. But must total $100 by the end of the month..

So, this is a scam and misleading to say the least. Even the promoter of the windshield did not give out any futher info as he knows what we are getting..
I plan to visit the gas station and hang out there as the "window installers" are doing and hand out my info to all I see that has agreed to the window installation. This is my duty to the public to prevent being ripped off further..
