Laid off? Terminated

I started work at Pinkerton in October of 1992. Securitas took over a few years ago.in all the time I worked for these companies I never once took off sick. I always showed up at least 10 minutes early to my post. If a fellow officer was late or didn't show up, I stayed till I was properly relieved. Recently the client I was working for (Optima Batteries) moved their production to Mexico. I told Securitas that I needed to have certain hours. My wife works nights an would not be able to change her hours. And that we have a child at home that needs to have someone with him at night. Securitas was aware of this situation.

A few days ago they offered me a post that was 30 miles from home an the hours were to end at the same time my wife would need to leave for her job. I told them this would not work out for my family. They then offered another post. But it still would not get me home in time. So I declined. They then told me that if I refused another post once more, It is their policy to terminate my employment. Well they did come up with one more that had even worse hours than the previous two. I of course had no other choice but to refuse the position offered.

Today they gave me my walking papers. I feel this was highly unfair practice. I told them I was willing to wait it out, an if some post came up that had my certain hours I would be very willing to take the position. But no, I broke their policy. I hope I can find work somewhere. I don't recommend anyone to work for this company.
