Ya-Umato, rip off employees, lies. Fronts for woman's crookery & freelance translator lia

I worked for a consulting firm (start-up) that replaced 2 companies owned by a woman named Yukiko Kishida. The current company, Ya-Umato, and the former ones, GPE Group and Sohsei International, are all fronts for this woman's crookery.

She owes me $1200 in wages that she refuses to pay and covers up in lies.

Sohsei was a translating company and she never paid most of the freelance translators while collecting money from the recipient of the translations.

All her former employees were fired - I guess there was a large turnaround as people realized they were dealing with a crook.

She closed the DC office of Ya-Umato cause she defaulted on her rent, and now she avoids all phone calls and emails. All while pretending to be DC's businesswoman of the year - she belongs to leadership conferences, etc. To maintain her image. But I'm sure she owes LOTS of people money, and I wish she could be sued, shut down, or deported (she's Japanese).

There doesn't seem to be anything for me to do about it - the better business bureau can't help, the police won't help (even though she wrote me a check for $1200 from an entirely empty account).

I suggest you look into her. I have searched her name before and came up with a group of translators who want to see her brought to justice, as they are all owed money and have similar experiences.
