Deceptive leasing and poor business practices

In an effort to downsize I rented a townhome from Results Property Management. During my tour of the property I asked the manager about utilities and costs. I was told that water averaged $25 a month yet there is a separate sewer bill that has to be paid each month of approximately $6 - $10 a month.

I paid a $400 deposit and agreed to pay 6 months rent up front as I've recently been laid off from my job. After signing a 6 month lease and paying the full lease up front, I then started to call for utilities to be turned on.

The water company wanted a $100 deposit for water and an additional $100 deposit for sewer for utilities to be transferred in my name. I immediately called my property manager about these costs that were never disclosed to me.in my 20 years of renting in the Lee's Summit area I have never had to pay any utility deposits before. I mentioned that defeats my purpose in downsizing having to make a $200 deposit.

I have requested for $200 of my rent or deposit be returned to me to make these deposits as I'm quickly running out of money. A small price to pay when rent has already been paid in full. She said she would get back to me.

Not only did she not return my call but another manager called me 3 weeks later about transferring water into my name. I explained that I would never have moved into my townhouse had I known such ridiculous charges were to be paid. The property manager said "It's only $200." If it's so little of money why won't they give me this money back? Elaina Garlett then says "then what will we have as a deposit?" My math tells me $200. I guess that would cheat them out of more deposit money they plan on keeping after I leave. As they've done to the many other tenants who have filed small claims against them and have won.

Having filed a maintenance request that my water pressure was too low, they did send out the water company... Only to leave a notice on my door that water would be shut off in a few days if I didn't pay my water deposit.in total I've talked to 6 employees and the owner (Ken Logan) of Results Property Management and still haven't had my water pressure fixed.

I now still don't have water pressure and am being threatened to have water shut off. I guess being a good tenant doesn't matter when it comes to giving back a dollar from Results Property Management. I've always paid my bills. I only ask that I be told the truth. Why would they not disclose up front all expenses when asked what they would be. Maybe because they knew I wouldn't move into the property?
