Reciver Corporation
Receiver Corporation rip-off fraud business promises false employment

Shops, Products, Services

I was contacted in late May by Glen Smith of Receiver Corporation alerting me that I had been selected for an interview for a position in software development. Being that I was a recent, local graduate with a degree in computer science, this stuck out as a great oppurtunity.

I went to the interview and was greeted by the receptionist of the building who told me to wait in the lobby, where there were two other people already waiting. Joseph Rupert then met us and led us into what we believed to be Receiver Corporation's offices. We were then treated to a group interview, where we filled out a paper application and answered a few questions on a sheet of paper.

Two weeks later, I was called by Glen Smith, and told I was selected for a second interview. I met with Tony Volz, who made me an offer in tech support, with training leading into software development at a rate of $35,000/year plus benefits, 401K, etc. All he needed from me was $450 for training, which would be reimbursed upon completion, along with $2250 for my time. I took the weekend to search for information on the company, and was unable to find anything negative, so I gave it a shot.

I completed the first two parts in a month, and reported back (consistently through e-mails to receiverco@aol.com) and through phone calls with Tony Volz. The "final" part involved me setting up demonstrations for CA's Intrusion Detection software with schools from around the Chicagoland area. I was told once I had an appointment, an account exec would be in touch with me to discuss what to do with the client. I said that I didn't want to do sales work, but Tony assured me that this was part of the training.

After completing the three appointments by mid september, I e-mailed them and was told that I had not finished the training. I then replied back, and explained what I had done, and that a Mark Warren would be in touch with me.By this time, I had seen other postings, etc, on the web which alerted me to the size of the scam. I still tried, thinking I could possibly get something from them. Well, it is now February, and I have not had an e-mail response from them since november. Fortunately for me, I was able to find other employment. I want to make sure my story is told so if these guys resurface in some other form (a la ISCS), people don't make the same mistake I made.
