My Human Resource Department where i work recieved a garnish of wages order on 12/05 from the New York child support enforcement.
On the notice the only two things that fit my description were the first and last name of the individual they are seeking.
The notice states that garnishment is to begin on the next payperiod.
I called the New York Child Support Enforcement and was told that all i could do was write a letter and dispute that i was not the person whom they were seeking and send copies of my ID and social security number.
I ask if there was someone that i could talk with to get more information and was told that the people that worked in that department did not except calls from the public, which i found very strange.
The individual i spoke with when i called could not give me any helpful information other than writing the letter.
Now keep in mind i have never went to a court concerning child support, and the new york child support enforcement has not proved that i am who they think i am.
My Human Resource Department tells me that it was verified by who ever she spoke with in new york by that person saying my correct social over the phone and not going by the one on the notice that she recieved.
It sounds to me like the new york child support enforcement has a list of names with socials and when this happens they read off the list until they reach a number that match's the persons name that they are trying to garnish wages on.
Sounds like a nice scam and its sad because i find that i am the one who has to prove my innocense when the new york child support enforcement should be proving that i am who they say i am.
People like this need to be stopped because they do not take into consideration that they might be breaking up a happy home of a innocent person.
Or that if its not corrected in time a person will have to let other bills go because they cant pay them anymore.
And the big kicker is i can not have anymore children.
