Was offererd a pre-approved credit line in the mail. When I went to recieve my offer from them. They denied it

I received a catolog in the mail with pre-approved credit on it with my name and current address. The catalog also say expires on 12/31/08. And when I went to use the credit account they said I was already approved for. I was denied. They would not honor the promised pre - approval offer. To me that is false advertising and fraud. I asked them why. They said cause it was printed 6 months ago. That my credit has a problem and is no longer eligable for the already pre-approverd credit. How can they denie me this when it was already promised to me.
