FINAL NOTIFICATION $39,000 Lump Sum, Check for $3,900

I am writing this for my brother. He received a letter today in the mail from Hanfield Financial Group that was mailed from Canada. It said "Final Notification", tried to make contact many times, about the winning of $39,00. This amount was supposedly drawn from a consumer database directory system, drawn from a pool of 98,000 customers. The total prize pool of $480,000 shared among the North American Winners in this category. There was a check inclosed for $3,900 to cash and send to pay for the taxes for the lump sum.

I realized this was a scam and was very skeptical about this. I got on here and found the information from complaint very helpful. Without discovering this information. My brother would of been screwed.

They even say in the enclosed letter "For security reasons, we advise that you keep this award from public notice until your claims have been finalized. This will help us prevent fraud and double claims" How Ironic?

My brother has called the 800 number and got the voice mail, it was full. Called back countless times till a lady answered and said to deposit check into checking account and call back within a business day. They would then give the contact information to send the money that was cashed.

This is a scam, I am reporting it here first. Going to inform local authorities and banks about this as well.
