Why does ONE attorney need so many ads and numbers that he does not even answer?

He is a big BS artist who sold my partner and I on his services, his experience, expertise etc.
We signed two contracts with him-one for each of us. We each gave him retainers that totaled several thousand dollars and original documents he promised to copy and return. He proceeded to cash the checks, not do ANY the work he contracted for and never contacted us again. He is now nowhere to be found and he ahs no real office. We filed suit against him and he did not even bother show up in court.
He has another adddress in Brooklyn, NY of 41 Schemerhorn Street Unit 219 Brooklyn, NY 11201-which is the address he used when we were talking to him.
We later learned that address is a mailbox service. He claimed it was his office.
Numbers there are 718-504-3660 and fax 718-504-7570. Both rented VM numbers not in an office.
He advertises on Craig's List quite a bit we later learned mostly to do work for wronged tenants.
He is also in Kansas under "Carter and Crutchfield".
The police have been alerted, complaints have been filed by us and many others and if we are lucky his license will be gone soon as we learned he is a serial offender.
