I went to the Sleep Doctor Store in search of a new mattress. I was assured they took care of their customers and my old bed would even be given to the poor, etc., etc. So I told Tom I prefer a firm mattress and showed him the one I just tried out, the Madura. He said if I was a side sleeper I should get the Madura Plush. He said it was just as firm as the other only it would prevent pressure on the shoulders and hip area by supporting the waist while sleeping on your side. I agreed but asked what if it didn't work out for me and he assured me there would be no problem. Comfort Guaranteed. He told me he could come down on the price and there was one year same as cash. I told him I would think about it and return.

I did but then Steve was there, the manager. I told him I was interested in the Madura. He took me in the back and said he could give me a deal but didn't want the other customers to hear. The offer was the same as Tom's (he didn't know I already had been there before). I said I would buy it and he wrote it up (except he checked the 6 months same as cash box.)

After two nights, I was waking up with upper back and neck pain. I thought maybe I needed to give my body time to adjust to a new bed. After the first week, I got up to go to work and could not hardly move. My spine hurt from my neck to my tailbone. I was one and a half hours late for work. When my granddaughter would sleep with me, I would find my body rolling towards her. She weighs about 80 pounds! It felt just like the Sam's Club $199.00 bed set I bought 12-15 yrs ago and was replacing, except this bed cost me $778.04 and was less than 2 weeks old.

I called the store and was told the manager would call me. He didn't, so I stopped by the store. Now they had made their sale, they didn't want anything more to do with me. I was talking now to the manager, Steve, and he said I could upgrade-pay the difference plus $200 handling fee and get another bed.

I couldn't afford to do that so I said I had to think about it. I kept going back telling them something had to be wrong with the bed. Steve said no it was a matter of preference. It just wasn't as firm. He had written up the bed I showed him (the one Tom said I should get) and that was that. After three or four weeks of bothering them, Steve said could send someone out and check the bed. It has to have sunk two inches before they would do anything. I called a lawyer and he said let them come out and get their name and qualifications. I figured his people would say it was fine. Jeff said it had only sunk one inch and there was nothing they would do. My daughter heard his helper say something about me needing a customer requisition or something like that but Jeff hushed him up.

I called the lawyer again and he said it would cost too much to sue them that I could take them to small claims court. I am sure Sleep Doctor knows that. They have no intentions of pleasing their customers. Steve was rude and said he doesn't care if I call the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General. I have to work two jobs and I need a good nights sleep. Sleep Doctor killed my chance of a good nights sleep!
