Complete Fraud, Rip-Off, Houston District Attorney

I used Tax Masters in 2006 trying to stop a wage garnishment and lien for unpaid taxes, and to get some relief from the pending amount. I explained my situation to the person that took my phone call and she assured me that I would qualify as a "hardship" and they could get me some relief on the amount owed.

After they double dipped into my bank account, which took over 3 months to get rectified, the real horror show began. Like others here, I did the "you need 3 months worth of receipts" and also got the run around about how they never received them, but I had sent them registered mail and had a signature showing they had. The "send us 3 months of receipts" happened 3 times.

My "analyst/specialist" changed 4 different times and I NEVER got any clear answers as to what was going on with my case. After numerous phone calls, hang ups, disconnections etc. Over 6 months I decided to contact the IRS myself.

The IRS told me that they had been contacted once by Tax Masters and when I explained my situation the IRS told me that they would have denied my request for a "hardship" situation since I owned property and the amount was under 10K that was owed. I made my own arrangements with the IRS to pay the amount owed.

Strangely enough about 6 months later (mid 2007) I received mail from the Houston District Attorneys office, after reporting Tax Master's to the Houston BBB and the Texas State Attorney General's office. I filled out all the forms and sent them supporting documentation, but never heard anything else. Not sure if they are still under investigation or not.

This still aggravates me everyday when my local channel runs their commercials and I was even more upset when the commercial came on the Bill O'Reilly program. I'm not sure how these people are still in business.
