Exhorbitant prices for supposedly renewing my magazines-taking advantage of a distracted person

This summer, while I was totally distracted, I received a series of urgent phone calls from a representative of Express Information Systems. My magazines, he claimed (Inc, Forbes, and Fast Company) were going to expire and he would renew them for me. I should have paid more attention.
I've just now received a bill for five years of magazines, including 4 that I don't want at a price of $69.80 per month. The total lifetime cost of this supposed 'service' is $2,024 for five years. I checked on the magazines' web sites, and to get a years' worth of all the ones I actually do use would cost me $2.97 per issue for all three. What a complete and total ripoff this supposed service is. I wonder how they got my name in the first place?
To make it worse, I actually did use them last year again without paying too much attention.
So I called them, and have gotten the same run-around that others on this site have apparently received, saying that I only had three days from date of their letter (which arrived when I was on vacation) to cancel. Now, they are claiming that I am not allowed to cancel and that they have to have a manager call me back.
