Beware of these movers

After promising delivery for weeks, mayfield's subcontractor finally arrived near my residence and then promptly informed me that if I didn't pay them an extra $350.00 in cash they would never deliver my belongings. After consulting the police and the US DOT, and at their recommendation, I negotiated the amount down to $300.00 and told them I would pay so that I could get my stuff. This was going to be a shuttle charge which I had been informed in writting prior to signing their contract that a shuttle charge would not be applied. Further their own contract left the shuttle charge blank as it was agreed it would not be charged. I made sure not to anger them or incite them to violence while they were making the delivery. After the delivery was made and my family was safe, I contacted Mayfield who contrary to their own contract, written statement from them prior to the contract and federal law, stated that this was a shuttle charge. According to the US DOT, the maximum shuttle charge is 15% of the total contract amount. My Contract was less than $1500.00 so the amount of $300.00 was effectively extortion paid to get my belongings. Be very aware of any dealings with this company, or their subcontractor Orange Van Lines, Inc. I am still doing what I can to be compensated for my losses months later. On top of that, they misplaced an item, but will not allow me to file a claim, return any calls for resolution or honor any of the terms of their contract with me in any way.
