Did not show on day scheduled, movers showed up with wrong inventory list

I thought that Joy at A Team moving and Storage was going to do such a great job. She sounded very nice on the phone. Don't fall for it. First of all - we scheduled them to come on the 28th of May to pick up our furniture and have it moved to storage. Did they show on the day? Nope. Computer glitch they said. But oddly enough when Joy spoke to my husband, she said it was because our computer was turned off - which was NOT true. It was not turned off. It was still plugged in - chugging away - getting e-mails from my family and friends!

So, o.K. - they showed up on the next day - 30 minutes before close! Then - just to make it better - the wrong inventory list was sent with the mover so all of these things that HAD been included in our quote were all of a sudden extra charges! My husband (who was there alone because I had already taken our children on a plane to Pennsylvania) ended up THROWING OUT things like a futon (with a big mattress), two extension ladders, a tall fan, a T. V set - a few other things. The charges were going through the roof - he didn't feel that he had a choice.

Now - as if that were all not bad enough - it took us OVER A MONTH to even get Joy to look at the inventory lists and see that there had been a mistake made! Then, she recalculated the estimate and somehow - despite there being LESS things then we had originally scheduled to move - our total still came out to be more money. We had an extra four or five boxes - NOT large boxes. Left over things - toys from under the couch - last minute linnens. But there is really no discussing it with anyone there. We could barely get them to look at a list and see that they double charged us for things.

AND finally - we've been in our house now for almost a month and are missing things like a video camera, my son's wooden step-stool, a Nikon Camera. I was given some number to file a complaint with - and the company I'm trying to file with is not too responsive. Actually the one time I tried to get a hold of them, it was really hard to just get someone on the phone! But for that matter - A Team will only insure. 60 cents a lb so how much could we get back for all of these things? Maybe three bucks? We've opened all of our boxes - these things are gone.

I would never use A Team again - I feel as if they are a complete rip off. They will end up blaming everything on you if something goes wrong. All of our furniture that we had to toss because THEY sent the wrong list... Yeah - that's our fault. I was told we were responsible to see that everything was on the truck. The fact that they came on the wrong day? Apparently it was because of OUR computer. Huh? They did give us one extra free month of storage. Hurrah. Not worth it. Not at all...

I've asked multiple times to be reimbursed for the things we had to leave in TX because JOY sent the wrong list. And I've been told multiple times it was OUR fault. What a joke.
