We all know the Internet Moving Scam: contract with reputable moving company you find on the net. Fancy web pages, references (signed by Nancy B. Or Julie G.???) and you contact the BBB and they have nothing on file.
You do a google.com search on "exceptional vanlines" and there isn't any rage reported. So you estimate your sq footage (alert: sq ft versus weight.
Easiest to scam by sq. Footage. Most boxes they packed were half full...) and you get a decent rate from Exceptional Vanlines compared to national moving company. 3 days before you are to be out of your house, the moving company shows up (or maybe two days late but you still have a day to spare).
They ask you to sign the papers and although you contracted with Exceptional Vanlines, a 24' Ryder truck pulls up that couldn't possibly hold your entire load. The papers to be signed are for Dolphin Relocation Services, not Exceptional Vanlines.
Your laptop is packed and you can't check the company out. You call Exceptional and they say they couldn't do the move and contracted Dolphin to do the job. You are unable to search their DOT license on the net (of which they show they are actually out of business, and have no insurance).
After they have moved half your stuff to an unknown storage place, they finalize your move buy telling you have more than estimated sq. Footage and need to pay double. You protest but they have half your stuff and you and you need to be moved out in a few hours... That is only half of the story. The delivery will send you to the funny farm...
We have someone elses stuff, 20% of valuable items missing. Etc etc.) United Express Vanlines was squeaky clean when I contracted with them. Now there are many sites that have soiled their name. They have now changed to Exceptional Vanlines. Google report nothing so this name will work for a while...
