Performs unnecessary work

Had a short in one bedroom that kept popping a circuit breaker. Called TLC out to find the short and also hang a chandelier in the hallway. 3 hours and 400 bucks later the technician finally found the short in a smoke detector. I have been in the house for 10 years and he could not tell me why the problem took 10 years to surface.

On to the chandelier which no fault of his was purchased from a local home depot and had faulty wiring. However, he said he HAD to charge me 250 bucks to hang it. I finally convinced him to give me a discount which he did for 100 bucks.

Now the killer, he took me out to the garage and had removed the cover off of the breaker box. He pointed out an area on the bus bar that appeared to be melted. Claimed it could "blow" and day if I did not change the box. He said the box was running 20 degrees hotter than normal. (It was 5:00 oclock in TEXAS so I am sure EVERYTHING in the garage was 20 degrees hotter!) He did not do any other diagnostics to see if the box was pulling too many amps or what may have caused it. He quoted 2200-3000 bucks to replace the panel plus 250 bucks for a ground rod which I already have.

I had another large reputable Electrical company and smaller private electrician come out and look at the panel. Both ran diagnostics and said the panel was fine. Both speculated what might have happened but that there was no danger the panel would "blow" and not necessary to change the panel.

There is no doubt in my mind that TLC Electricians have an incentive to run up the bill. So if you want a bunch of high priced work done that you do not need call TLC Electric.
