There are government agencies where you may obtain a "true" free credit report from. Freecreditreport.com will charge your account $14.95 per month if you don't call and cancel. No bill or correspondence is ever mailed to you your account is just tapped and unless you are looking for the charge...
Again, nothing free about freecreditreport.com unless you cancel 7 days after you sign up. I am surprised the FTC lets them advertise as "Free". I hope I have at least helped someone from being taken as I was.
