Deceptive and incompetant

In June we had a Dish Network "kid" show up at our front door to try and hustle his service. I humored him and let him spill his line. He stated that for less money per month we can have Dish Network instead of DirecTV. We told him what we are currently signed up for regarding features and he easily responded "We can do that, no problem".

This is where the incompentance starts. I had the installer come out and he started the install. About mid-way he asked a few questions that was interesting, like "Which TV is the primary, I need to place the #1 box there for sharing", I asked what sharing was and he answered as 2 people share 1 box, that cuts costs. I asked him how we can watch 1 show (recorded), and tape 2 more like TiVo does and he said that is what the second box is for. I stated that we can do that from 1 box now, he said "No problem" (sounds familiar) you need another dish and a second box and you are all set. This at a cost of $30.00 more per month than DirecTV cost, this is not including all of the premium programming, just the hardware.

After the installer left, we played around with the system, it was nothing like what we thought it was, and proceeded to call Dish and tell them to get thier system back/out of our house. They said that after 24 hrs thier will be a charge for breach of contract, but since we called only hours after the system start, we will be fine (yeah right). The installer called and he was able to come out that next afternoon, just over the 24 hr period (26 hrs actually when all is said and done). He comes out gets the recievers and dish and leaves. We thought all is well, until we get a bill for over $800 for the service.

Calls to Dish was useless, they all stated that the $800 was for having the system over the initial 24 hr period (after we were told we will be fine). The charge showed up on our credit reports for a few months, until we repeatedly disputed it and it dissappeared when the attourney General was contacted along with the BBB about this dilemma.

Needless to say we do not like Dish Network or any of thier "practices" of delaying and cheating thier way into your home. Just food for thought.
