I picked up a load of dry cleanables on November 2nd. I took them home and put them in my closet. A week later, I opened the plastic wrapping to get out a pair of pants. I found a pair of pants that were not mine, but the pair I was looking for was not there.

I took the wrong pants back to the dry cleaners (Quality Plus Dry Cleaners in West Park Village), and told them that I had gotten the wrong pair. I asked if they could please find my pants. They asked me for my white ticket. I said I didn't have anything, because I had picked the clothes up a week ago and thrown everything away. I had just unwrapped the clothes today. They said they would investigate and call me back in a day or two. This was on November 10.

After three days, I hadn't received a call, so I called them. They said that without the white slip there wasn't much they could do. I escalated the matter to their customer service representative. She stated that I'd have to give them 30 days to try and locate the pants, but without the white ticket, she made no promises. These were $100 Ann Taylor pants that were only a couple months old.

I brought another pair of pants into the same dry cleaners yesterday (12/12/02), and inquired into the status of my missing pants. The girl took down my name and number, and said someone would get back to me. I received a call today from the same girl I originally reported the mistake to (not management). She stated that there was nothing they could do, because there was no white ticket. They had found all the other ticket information on the specific order, but without the white ticket they couldn't do anything. She said she was just calling me as a courtesy.

I called the Oldsmar plant to speak to the owner, who I guess owns at least both of those locations. I was promptly told "he was busy". I left my name and number, but have not heard back from them.

I find it reprehensible that a company would make no attempt to rectify a situation such as this. I obviously brought back the wrong item of clothing, so there was definitely a mistake made. It should not be up to me to make it easy for them to search their system. They should have a better system in place, like having a copy of the "white ticket" for their records.

Once I pick up my pants that I brought in yesterday, I will no longer deal with them, and advise others to avoid their services.
