Puppy Shoppe
Sold mixed breed terrier dog as pure-bred yorki. Dog ill. Multiple falsehoods from store

Shops, Products, Services

In March, purchased puppy from Puppy Shoppe in Edison as a birthday present for my 10 year old daughter. Dog was listed as a 3 month old pure bred male Yorkshire Terrier. I was given paperwork indicating that the dog had been microchipped, was healthy, given supposed pedigree, and told that dog was from very reliable broker. One of the co-owners of the store sold the dog to me. At the time of the purchase, the dog was listed on sale given its age. Most of what I was told at the time of purchase turned out to be false.
My warning to others: This shop is not reputable. The owners are very smooth. Do not believe what you may be told.

Turned out that the dog was a mixed breed terrier of indeterminate parentage.

Now, 3 months later, the dog is 15 pounds and still growing. He is part terrier, but definitely not a yorkshire. Maybe part silky terrier, but not a yorkshire at all.

The dog is of indeterminate age; appears by teeth and demeanor to be older than stated age.

The microchip certificate that I was provided indicates a number that is nonsensical and not valid. When scanned, in fact, the dog has no microchip at all.
The supposed breeder/nursery that is referenced in the pedigree papers that I was provided, also does not exist.
Within a couple of weeks of purchase, the dog went lame, and the vet indicated that he has a severe patellar luxation, and needs an operation.

The dog has a pathologic fear of going into our garage, or other dark spaces, making me wonder about the location of his early upbringing.

When I first brought the dog home, and reviewed the register receipt (not itemized), I realized that I was charged $200 more than the listed sales price posted for the dog. When I called the owner the next day, she denied that the dog had ever been on sale.

Avoid this store. You will pay lots of money for a puppy that will not be the breed reported, will not likely be healthy, and the paperwork (microchip, pedigree etc) that will be provided to you will be worthless
